Justice A.A. Isiaka of the Kaduna State High Court has convicted and sentenced one Destiny Maikarfi, better known as TudTech, to two years imprisonment for Internet fraud.
This was conveyed in a statement issued out on the official X page of the Anti graft on Tuesday, 31st of October, 2023.
Maikarfi was nabbed by Men of the EFCC, along with some internet fraudsters, at Malali Unguwan Gado, Kaduna State, after which he was investigated and found to be involved in Internet-related crimes.
According to the statement, Maikarfi was jailed on Monday, 30th of October, 2023 after pleading guilty to a one-count charge bordering on cybercrime.
The charge reads,
āThat you Destiny Maikarfi, a.k.a TudTech, between January and October 2023 at Kaduna, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, committed an offence to wit; falsely presented yourself as TudTech; a professional tech expert, capable of spying on mobile devices to one Toni Rae, and which pretence you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 142(1) of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017.”
Based on the guilty plea, prosecution counsel, K.S. Ogunlade, prayed to the court to convict and sentence the defendant accordingly.
Justice Isiaka thereafter convicted and sentenced Maikarfi to two years of imprisonment or an option of a fine of N150,000.
The judge also ordered the forfeiture of one Samsung Galaxy S8 used to carry out the offence to the Federal Government of Nigeria through the EFCC. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>
