The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has urged youths to take a decisive stand in the battle against economic crimes, financial corruption and all forms of wrongdoing.
Olukoyede made this call during a recent visit by students from New Capital School, Abuja, who toured the EFCC’s corporate headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, as part of their educational study trip.
Speaking on behalf of the Chairman, Assistant Commander of the EFCC and Head of the Public Interface Unit, ACE I Tony Orilade, emphasised the importance of courage in the fight against corruption.
He encouraged the students to actively speak out against corrupt practices and join in the Commission’s efforts to cleanse the country.
Orilade stressed that the involvement of young people is essential to the nation’s fight against corruption, noting that it is a major obstacle to Nigeria’s growth and development.
He called on the youths to actively engage in the movement towards a corruption-free society.
A statement on the official X handle of the anti-graft agency, on Monday, 24th of March 2025, reads in part:
“The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has called on Nigerian youths to take a bold and upright stance in the fight against economic and financial crimes, as well as all forms of corruption.
“Olukoyede gave this charge recently when students from New Capital School, Abuja, visited the corporate headquarters of the commission in Jabi, Abuja, on a study tour.
“The Head of Public Interface Unit, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE I Tony Orilade, who spoke for the Chairman , urged the youths to be courageous in speaking out against corrupt practices and to actively participate in the Commission’s efforts in sanitizing the country.
“According to him, the active involvement of young people is crucial to eradicating corruption, which has caused significant harm to the nation’s development.
“ ‘Be bold and upright in fighting corruption and other forms of economic and financial crimes. When you see something going wrong, speak up, correct it, and caution others about the dire consequences of such acts’, he said
“He further encouraged the students to join the EFCC’s anti-corruption campaign, which aims to promote Nigeria economically and make her viable and attractive to investors. According to him, the fight against corruption is everybody’s affair, regardless of age.
“ ‘Join the anti-corruption fight; don’t say you are too young to join. Tell your parents and uncles that economic and financial crimes are detrimental to your future and the nation’s progress. Together, we can make Nigeria great again’, he said.
“He also cautioned the students against engaging in internet fraud, examination malpractices and other illegal activities, urging them to uphold integrity and good moral values.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>>>
