The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a new date for the commencement of the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations. In a statement signed by its Head of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB disclosed that the UTME, which was previously scheduled to start on April 29, 2023, would now begin on April 25, 2023.
Furthermore, the board has rescheduled its mock-UTME, which was initially conducted on March 30, to April 18, 2023.
The mock examination was intended to test the board’s readiness for the UTME, as well as give prospective candidates a feel of the Computer-Based Test (CBT) environment.
The board has also released the results of the candidates who successfully took the mock examination on March 30, while candidates who were screened but could not sit for it have been rescheduled to retake the examination on April 18.
The adjustment in the UTME date is to accommodate other critical national assignments, as well as ensure that no citizen is denied the opportunity to exercise their civic responsibilities.
JAMB cannot shift its examination date forward, as other public examinations are scheduled to commence their exercises in May 2023. Additionally, institutions with a stable academic calendar need to resume as scheduled.
JAMB reassured its commitment to partnering with relevant government agencies to ensure that its candidates receive the best, while soliciting the understanding of all as it delivers on its critical mandate.
