Mmesoma Ejikeme, the candidate at the center of a forgery allegation regarding her UTME results, has expressed her discontent with the three-year ban imposed on her by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), stating that it is “not fair.”
The 19-year-old insists that her “results notification” slip, obtained from the JAMB results portal, displayed a score of 362 out of 400. However, JAMB argues that she is presenting a forged result on a template that was discontinued in 2021, asserting that her official score is 249.
JAMB maintains that her result is “patently fake” and has consequently invalidated it, in addition to imposing a three-year prohibition on her from participating in the examination. Despite the controversy, Mmesoma, accompanied by her father Romanus, appeared on the Wednesday edition of Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, emphasizing that she should not be held responsible.
“It’s not my fault that I printed my result like that, and they said that I forged my result. It’s not my fault. So, them banning it is not fair,” she stated.
During her appearance on the show, JAMB spokesman Fabian Benjamin disclosed that the board’s records revealed the candidate had sent multiple messages to their automated telecoms system, including the results indicating an aggregate score of 362.
In response, Mmesoma clarified that she had only sent one text message to JAMB through its support system: “That’s the only SMS I sent there.”
When asked if she received any response, she replied, “They didn’t reply. If they check their JAMB Support System, they would see that I sent a text message. They didn’t reply.”
Regarding the claim that she utilized an Airtel line, Mmesoma confirmed this but clarified that it was not done through a USSD code.
“The one I checked through the USSD code is the one of 360 (sic) that I saw,” she further explained.
Regarding JAMB’s assertion that her score was 249, Mmesoma acknowledged this fact, stating, “Yes. After all said and done, I now saw that I got 249. I sent them a text message there to know what really happened—the JAMB Support System. If they go to their system, they will see it there.”
The controversy surrounding Mmesoma Ejikeme’s UTME results and the forgery allegations remains unresolved, as both sides maintain their conflicting positions.
