President Bola Tinubu has advised political parties concerned about losing members to focus on fixing their internal challenges rather than blaming external forces for their woes.
In a post shared on his official X handle, the president dismissed claims that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is working to destabilise opposition parties, saying such fears are baseless.
He also said he would neither bother about the crisis in the opposition parties nor help them fix the problems, adding that it was a pleasure to see the opposition parties in disarray.
The update on the president’s X handle is an extract from a State of the Nation address to a Joint Session of the National Assembly as part of activities marking Democracy Day.
“Political parties fearful of members leaving may be better served by examining their internal processes and affairs rather than fearfully conjuring up demons that do not exist,” Tinubu said.
Offering blunt advice to his critics, Tinubu added:
