At least four police officers were killed in Gajiram, Borno State, during a shootout with suspected terrorists from the Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP).
It was gathered that the ugly incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, February 3.
According to a source family with the situation, the terrorists entered the town covertly on Friday morning at around 11:00 a.m., proceeded directly to the Gajiram Town police station, and opened fire, killing four officers.
The terrorists were stopped from setting the police quarters on fire by Mobile Policemen who engaged them in a fierce gunfight.
Another source who is also a police officer and is known to the deceased officers said:
“My colleagues one Ahmad Abubakar ‘m’ Attached to Divisional Headquarters Gajiram Nganzai Local Government Area and one Pc Abdullahi the same address were killed yesterday at 0030Hrs when Boko Rahama attack them.”
It was later learned that the terrorists had left the area when the soldiers of Operation Hadin Kai in Gajiram arrived. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
