Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi, Others Confirmed Dead In Helicopter Crash (Photos)

President Ebrahim Raisi died in an eastern province when the helicopter he was traveling in crashed due to bad weather, according to state media in Iran.

The news was released when Iranian Red Crescent rescuers said that they had located the chopper wreckage, which included the foreign minister and senior officials of the nation, and that there was “no sign of life.”

Rescue crews battled through thick fog, snowstorms, and steep terrain to arrive at the wreckage early on Monday in the province of East Azerbaijan; however, official television did not reveal the crash’s exact cause.

The governor of the province of East Azerbaijan, Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, as well as other officials and bodyguards, accompanied Raisi, according to the state-run IRNA news agency.
