Femi Falana, a human rights lawyer, is urging the police to investigate the death of a 12-year-old boy in Lagos who had his intestine removed.
The boy, Adebola Akin-Bright, passed away on a Wednesday. His death was confirmed by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.
The boy’s situation came to light when his mother, Deborah Abiodun, shared a video online. She explained that her son had surgery at a private hospital in Lagos after being diagnosed with a ruptured appendix. Shockingly, it was later discovered that his intestines were missing.
In a letter, Falana and his law firm asked the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to look into this matter. They emphasized the need to uncover the circumstances surrounding the boy’s avoidable death. The letter pointed out that Mrs. Deborah Abiodun had alleged that her son’s small intestine disappeared during his treatment at the private hospital.
