The Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has secured the conviction of one Victory Dennis Popularly known as Lakeisha for impersonating a female Canadian, Lakeisha Andre, on Facebook platform.
It was gathered that the anti-graft agency via it twitter handle on Monday, revealed that he was detained at a NightClub in Barnawa, Kaduna State, following intelligence on his alleged online fraud-related activities.
Dennis was convicted before Justice A.A.Isiaka of the Kaduna State High Court. Further investigations revealed how he impersonated and represented himself as a perfumer on the social media platforms known as WhatsApp and Facebook.
The charges read,
“That you, Victory Dennis (aka Lakeidha Andre) “M ” sometime in 2022 in Kaduna within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, impersonated one Lakeisha Andre, a female Canadian on Facebook and falsely presented yourself as a Marketer of perfume to Gleen Odell and other unsuspecting persons, which you knew to be false, and thereby committed impersonation, an offence contrary to Section 142 (1) of the Penal Code Law, 2017 of Kaduna State and punishable under the same law.”
The convicted Dennis was sentenced to one year in prison with an option of a N150,000 fine by Justice Isiaka.
