The Imo State Police Command has issued a wanted notice for hotelier Stanley Morocco Oparaugo after several decomposed and mutilated bodies were discovered at his private mortuary.
The facility was raided on Saturday, December 6, 2025, as part of an intensified operation against kidnapping, violent crime, and suspected organ harvesting along the Owerri–Aba Expressway.
State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye, stated that a hotel and mortuary owned by the suspect were inspected. “At the mortuary, decomposed and mutilated corpses were discovered in unhygienic conditions, raising suspicions of illegal organ-harvesting activities,” he said.
The raid was led by Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma and included the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Chioma Egu; Chief Pathologist Dr. Ibeaja Okechukwu; members of the Ngor Okpala Vigilante Group; and the Local Government Chairman, Mrs. Chika Ibekwe.
Following the findings, the state government ordered the immediate closure of both the hotel and mortuary. Forensic experts have documented and secured evidence from the site.
CP Danjuma assured that all accomplices would be identified and prosecuted. The police have also deployed heightened security along the Owerri–Aba Expressway to protect travelers during the festive period.
