Imo Governor Launches State Vigilante Organization to Bolster Security

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has officially inaugurated the Imo State Vigilante Organisation, framing it as a crucial measure to sustain the relative peace the state currently enjoys and build a foundation for future development.

During the launch, Governor Uzodimma asserted that the security improvements in Imo are the result of deliberate policies and a strengthened security framework, not chance. He emphasized that sustained peace is vital for attracting investment and creating economic opportunities for residents, stating, “This peace is the foundation of a business-friendly environment.”

The Governor explained that the vigilante officers have received specialized training from security agencies to ensure their operations are lawful and effective. He urged them to work closely with both formal security forces and local communities, highlighting that criminal elements often operate from within neighborhoods, making community intelligence and cooperation essential for full security coverage.

The inauguration is seen as a strategic step to consolidate recent security gains and strengthen community-based policing as Imo State prepares for further growth and development in 2026.
