The Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Dajuma, has cautioned motorists and members of the public against attacking road traffic officers, warning that such acts will no longer be tolerated.
In a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, the Police Commissioner described the rising cases of assault on traffic officers as “abnormal behaviour” that has unfortunately become a disturbing trend.
He stressed that such actions undermine the rule of law and violate the dignity of officers performing their lawful duties.
CP Dajuma assured that the command will deal decisively with anyone found guilty of harassing or assaulting traffic officers, insisting that perpetrators will face the full weight of the law.
He urged the public to remain law-abiding, accord due respect to security operatives, and report any case of misconduct through the Police Complaint Response Unit (CRU) or via the dedicated line, 08034773600.
