Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde, has confirmed that his administration will pay the N70,000 minimum wage, saying that he would meet with the labour representatives to negotiate consequential adjustments.
Makinde disclosed this in a post shared via the official X handle of the Oyo state governor on Sunday, 6th of October, 2024.
He also commissioned a block of 10 classrooms at the NUT Oyo State Wing Model Primary School during an event to commemorate World Teachers’ Day with the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Oyo State Chapter.
The post reads:
“We joined the Nigerian Union of Teachers, Oyo State Chapter to commemorate World Teachers’ Day yesterday. In my remarks at the event, I thanked teachers in our dear State for their dedication to their duties and affirmed our administration’s commitment to rewarding their hard work.
“I also confirmed that our administration will pay the N70,000 minimum wage but that we will meet with Labour to negotiate consequential adjustments. As part of the event, I commissioned a block of 10 classrooms built at the NUT Oyo State Wing Model Primary School, and assured teachers that we will continue to address the infrastructure deficit in Oyo State”.
