I was treated as a suspect after reporting a robbéry attáck — UK-based gospel singer recounts tragïc ordeal

Nigerian gospel artist Muyiwa Olarewaju, based in the United Kingdom, has revealed a troubling encounter in which he was treated as a suspect after surviving an attempted robbery in February.

Sharing the ordeal via a video on his X handle, Olarewaju said the incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. while he was driving to work.

A young man allegedly tried to force his way into Olarewaju’s car, smashing a window in the process.

According to him, he managed to escape unharmed and later reported the attack to police, along with surveillance footage that captured the incident.

To his shock, Olarewaju said the police began investigating him instead of pursuing the attacker.

He was questioned by police and had to retain legal representation, despite being the victim.

Officers reportedly opened an investigation into affray, even though video evidence clearly identified the assailant.

The case dragged on for three months before it was eventually dropped due to insufficient evidence.

He said:

“I told the police where the cameras were in that area, the fact that the guy had smashed up my window, and the worrying and all that it caused.

“They called me in for interviews, etc., etc., and I had to get a lawyer. Thank God for family in Hanson Woods. I highly recommend solicitors Hanson Woods — they were absolutely phenomenal.

“The police never found the young man who they saw on camera. But I was being investigated for affray.

“Three months later, they’ve come back to say nothing to see here. They can’t find the guy who attacked my car, and they don’t have any more evidence on their charge against me.

“So be careful out there. And if you don’t have legal representation already, have it ready just in case you go through a thing like this. I’m sure the police are doing a wonderful job to keep law and order, but some things go wrong sometimes.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>>
