“When I was young, I didn’t even know if I could make African music. At first, it was not easy to see an artist grow up in Nigeria with us and take over the world like we’re doing today. “
“The first person who made me believe in afrobeats was D’banj. I remember D’banj used to stay in my house and I think I had to go to Dubai with my family. “
“Then when I got there and I was watching YouTube, I saw a music video of D’banj and Kanye West and that alone changed my perspective on afrobeats. “
“Before I lęft Nigeria, nobody would buy a show today a Nigerian artist’s concert but they would hurrîedly buy tickets to American artist shows. “
“Artist like Ja Rule, Usher, 50 Cent, and other American artist were the on ones popping at the time. “
“But when I got back to Nigeria and started music, everything changed. People started hurrying to buy tickets to my shows like I was an American artist and that’s when I realized that I was the king of afrobeats. “
