Hanan Buhari, daughter of the late former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, has expressed her gratitude to Nigerians who chose to forgive her father following his d+ath.
According to report, the former president died on Sunday, July 13, at a clinic in London after battling a prolonged but undisclosed illness.
Reports indicate that Buhari had recently been discharged from intensive care before his condition worsened. He was laid to rest on Tuesday at his residence in Daura, Katsina State.
His passing has stirred a range of emotions nationwide, with social media filled with both tributes and criticism of his legacy.
In a recent interview with BBC Hausa, Hanan reflected on her father’s passing and described what she would miss most about him.
“What I will miss most about him is his sense of humour. I look up to him as a part of me. I want to thank everyone who forgave my late father,” she said.
Acknowledging the pain of his loss, Hanan said she accepts his d+ath as God’s will and expressed gratitude on behalf of her family.
“On behalf of our family, we are grateful. We have nothing to say to them except thank God. He disciplined me to study, pray, and do things that made us happy.
That is what I can say. But since Allah has decreed it, Alhamdulillah, I had the chance to be with him and read the Qur’an to him,” she added.
