A high-level political coalition meeting featuring former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party leader Peter Obi, and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi was thrown into disarray on Saturday following a dispute over Jigawa State’s representation.
The meeting, held at the Abuja Continental Hotel and convened by the National Political Consultative Group (North), was momentarily disrupted when Babachir Lawal, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, announced a representative to speak on behalf of Jigawa.
The announcement sparked immediate outr+ge among Jigawa delegates, who stormed the stage in protest.
They rejected the appointed spokesperson and insisted they would not accept representation without prior consultation.
The commotion forced security personnel—including police, DSS operatives, and private guards—to intervene swiftly, forming a protective cordon around top figures like Atiku and Amaechi.
