Gunmen Launch Attack On Riyom, K!lling Three Miners And Injuring Two

group of heavily armed gunmen attacked a local tin mining site in Tanjol, Jol community, Riyom Local Government Area, resulting in the tragic deaths of three miners and severe injuries to two others. The incident occurred on Friday, sending shockwaves through the community.

Mr. Rwang Tengwong, the National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Movement (BYM), confirmed the devastating event, revealing that the gunmen arrived at the mining site at approximately 11 a.m., catching the unsuspecting miners off guard while they were engaged in their livelihood activities.

“At about 11 a.m., gunmen killed three persons and injured two others at a mining site in Tanjol area of Jol community in Riyom,” Tengwong informed the press.

The injured victims are currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital in the vicinity, as their wounds from the attack are tended to.

Tengwong expressed his deep concern over the frequency of such attacks and pleaded with the government and security agencies to prioritize the safety of lives and property in rural communities.
