Gunmen Invade RCCG Church In Ogun State, K!ll Pastor And Abduct Worshipers

In a tragic incident that unfolded over the weekend, armed gunmen invaded a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Abule-Ori, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State. The assailants killed a pastor and abducted several worshippers, shaking the local community to its core.

The Commander of the Ogun State So-Safe Corps, Soji Ganzallo, confirmed the horrifying attack on Sunday morning. According to Ganzallo, his officers swiftly responded to the distress call and embarked on a rescue operation that proved successful. During the operation, the So-Safe Corps team managed to rescue seven church members who were held captive by the gunmen. Tragically, the pastor was killed during the assault.

In an official statement by the So-Safe Director of Information and Public Relations, Moruf Yusuf, Ganzallo emphasized that the attack took place at approximately 12 a.m. on Saturday, July 1. The victims were targeted while attending a vigil at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Desires of Nations Parish, under Ogun Province 22.

Ganzallo praised the dedication and bravery of his officers, particularly the special operation team of the Corps’ Owode-Egba Zonal Command, under ACC Jimoh Rasaki Omoniyi. The team swiftly launched an operation to track down the kidnappers and secure the safe release of the abducted church members. In the ensuing confrontation, one of the kidnappers was killed, and several others sustained serious injuries.

The Ogun State Police Command is now collaborating with the So-Safe Corps to launch a joint manhunt for the remaining suspects who managed to escape. Authorities are determined to bring them to justice and ensure the safety of the community.

The deceased kidnapper’s body has been transferred to a nearby morgue for further investigation and identification.
