Gunmen Attack Ejule Town In Kogi State, Leaving Scores Dead

Ejule town in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State was thrown into chaos as gunmen stormed the community in the early hours of Thursday, June 22. Tragically, several residents are feared dead as a result of the attack.

According to eyewitness reports, the assailants opened fire, and in the midst of the chaos, an Okada rider (commercial motorcyclist) was struck by a stray bullet, leading to his demise. Additionally, the wife of a prominent youth leader in the community lost her life after being hit by gunfire while desperately searching for her husband.

In the midst of the assault, the attackers set ablaze a family house, adding to the destruction and terror in the town.

One eyewitness, who spoke to our correspondent on the telephone, revealed the tense atmosphere and the grim discovery of more lifeless bodies strewn across the streets. The exact number of casualties is yet to be determined, but the loss of two lives has been confirmed so far.

Commander Jerry Omadara (retd), the Security Adviser to Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, acknowledged the incident but stated that he is currently awaiting further details. He assured that he would provide additional information once it becomes available.
