Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday hosted the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates for the local government elections at Lagos House, Marina, charging them to prioritise community engagement and grassroots development.
Speaking during the meeting, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasised that political campaigns should go beyond soliciting votes and focus on building trust through visibility, consistency, and genuine connection with the people.
A statement on the Governor’s X handle on Tuesday, June 24 reads:
“Today, we hosted all APC candidates for the upcoming local government elections at Lagos House, Marina.
“I encouraged them to engage deeply with the communities they hope to serve. Campaigning is more than asking for votes, it’s about showing up, being present, and building trust. I also reminded them that leadership is a team effort. “
“They need to work closely with their vice chairmen and fellow local officials to drive real progress at the grassroots level, where it matters most.
