The Lagos Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the total demolition and reconstruction of the Popluar Pelewura Market in Lagos Island.
However, the Governor promised to commence compensation for occupants of the market from next week.
Sanwo-Olu made this known while performing the official presentation of bank cheques and bank drafts to victims of the Docemo fire incident.
In a video shared by the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Jubril Gawat, on Saturday, 31st of August 2024,
Sanwo-Olu was captured saying:
“in Pelewura market, starting from Monday, we’ll begin to pay all the occupants for compensation. Both shop owners, tenants, everybody would be paid.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>>
