Governor Oyebanji presents N146m compensation to 46 landowners for agribusiness project

The Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji has presented cheques totaling N146 million as compensation to 46 landowners in Oke Ako area of the state, whose lands were acquired for the transformative agribusiness initiative of the state government.

According to Oyebanji, the projedct aims to engage young farmers, boost agribusiness, and create wealth in Ekiti State.

He disclosed this in a statement he shared via his X handle on Monday, 9th of December 2024.

The statement reads:

“In fulfillment of our policy of payment of compensation for acquired land, I presented cheques totaling N146 million as compensation to 46 landowners in Oke Ako, whose lands were acquired for our transformative agribusiness initiative.

“This project, in partnership with YSJ Farms, covers 4,000 hectares and is part of our “Bring Back the Youth in Agriculture” scheme, which aims to engage young farmers, boost agribusiness, and create wealth in Ekiti State.

“I am proud to see this project take off despite initial delays, as it promises immense economic benefits. Beyond enhancing food security, it will attract infrastructure development, such as roads, health facilities, and cottage industries, while providing training opportunities for our youths.
