Flood-ravaged in Oko community, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State took the lives of Three persons.
According to report gathered, the flood which grounded due to heavy downpour pulled down several houses, rendering the occupants in Oko community homeless.
An identified Okonji, who was one of the rescuers, on Sunday, revealed that the boat which conveyed them capsized, two victims body had yet to be recovered as the flood took over the area, one died on arrival.
According to him “The boat conveying them capsized. We have been searching for them; we recovered one of the bodies around 6pm and immediately rushed him to the Okwe General Hospital, but the doctor confirmed him dead on arrival.
“We are still doing everything possible to recover the remaining two bodies. It was terrible; we never imagined that such will happen again.”
Director-General, Delta State Bureau of Orientation, Mr Eugene Uzum, while speaking on the incident warned residents who abode in a flood-prone areas to relocate to higher planes to avoid such incident.
Mr. Uzum stated that the state government was concerned about the lives and property of people living in flood-prone areas of the state, and has warned them to move from such location.
