The Academic staff union of polytechnic (ASUP) said that, they are yet to decide whether to go on strike or not . ASUP President , Dr Anderson Ezeibe in an interview, said the union will determine its decision on their next National Executive Council ( NEC ) Meeting . The president confirmed that they are yet to fix date for the NEC meeting .
Dr Ezeibe further said, ” As at today, we are yet to fix a date for our NEC meeting, ” adding that “ it is at the meeting that the committee will look into all the issues in contention and review the progress made so far and then take a position that will be of interest to the generality of members .
Dr Ezeibe further said , even though government had been meeting with the leadership of the union and even fixed the next meeting to May 9 , government had not been able to show seriousness as regards meeting the union’s demands that involved money .
The polytechnic lecturers are demanding for the implementation of the agreement signed with federal government in 2021 which include the release of # 15B revitalisation fund which is yet to injected up till now .
According to reports,Federal government has scheduled a meeting with the leadership of ASUP and the meeting will hold on Monday 9th May 2022 in Abuja . Moreso , the leadership of the National Association of polytechnic students (NAPS ) said they are working behind closed doors to dialogue with ASUP not to go on strike .
