Gov Soludo Appoints Non-Indigenes as Accountant General, Permanent Secretary in Anambra

In a bold step towards inclusivity and meritocracy, Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has appointed Mr. Joachim Achor, an indigene of Abia State, as the new Accountant General of the state.

This appointment, alongside that of Mr. Adebayo Ojeyinka from Osun State as a Permanent Secretary, marks a historic departure from the tradition of restricting top government roles to only Anambra indigenes.

Governor Soludo’s Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, made the announcement in a statement released July 24, 2024.

He explained that the appointments were the result of a transparent and competitive selection process involving computer-based tests, merit-driven screenings, and one-on-one sessions with the governor.

Aburime emphasized that the process was devoid of political influence and was strictly based on competence and alignment with the administration’s public service reform agenda.

“This is not just symbolic,” he said. “It is the culmination of a remarkable journey marked by personal resilience, professional excellence, and unwavering dedication to public service within the Anambra State Civil Service.”
