God told me I’ll lose my first born if I leave RCCG — Pastor Adeboye tells congregation

During the June Holy Ghost Service at the Redemption City of God in Ogun State, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), shared a deeply personal revelation.

Speaking in the early hours of Saturday, June 7, under the theme “Destined for Greatness (Part 2),” he disclosed that God had once given him a grave warning that if he ever left RCCG, his firstborn would die.

Adeboye used this testimony to emphasise the importance of following divine guidance and maintaining spiritual stability.

Referring to an earlier sermon by his son, Pastor Leke Adeboye, he addressed a growing trend among young Christians who frequently switch churches, often identifying as newcomers wherever they go.

He reflected on his spiritual journey, recalling that when he became born again, several major ministries were flourishing.

Despite their appeal, he said God made it clear that he was to remain in RCCG a directive he has obeyed ever since.

He said:

“When I got born again, there were three major ministries that were making waves, and they were very good. There were different temptations to go from one to another.

“But God said to me, ‘Son, I brought you here. This is where you will stay. The day you leave this denomination, your first born will die.”

He mentioned that RCCG was fairly unknown back then, with its headquarters housed in a modest building in Ebute-Metta, Lagos.
