A devastating tanker explosion in the early hours of Tuesday, 4th of March 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State, has claimed two persons.
The incident occurred around 5:00 am near Gabster Mega Petrol Station, Orita Challenge, in the Oluyole Local Government Area.
Eyewitnesses reported that the victims, a tanker driver and his assistant, were trapped in the explosion and burnt beyond recognition.
The blast left the area engulfed in flames, causing significant destruction.
Reports revealed that the fire service, supported by security personnel, worked relentlessly to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby commercial and residential buildings.
Confirming the incident, the Special Adviser on Fire Services Reform to Governor Seyi Makinde and Chairman of the State Fire Services Agency, Moroof Akinwande, said: “We received the distress call at 5:15 am and immediately responded.
