The Chief of Staff to the Governor of Rivers State, Edison Ehie, has said that the ongoing political crisis in the state is due to the issue of resource control.
Ehie made this statement during a thanksgiving service for the Governor’s Supreme Court victory, held in Ahoada East Local Government Area of the state.
According to Ehie, the problem in Rivers State started when a few political leaders sought to exclusively control the state’s resources. He warned that despite the Governor’s young age, he has the capacity to teach his opponents a political lesson.
Ehie explained that 11 individuals had claimed they would control the resources of Rivers State, and they had brought in 20 more people to allocate these resources among themselves.
He stated that the Governor would teach them a lesson in political arithmetic, and that they would see that “khaki no be leather,” meaning that the Governor’s actions would surprise them.
After the church service, the atmosphere shifted to politics, with community leaders, women, youth groups, and loyalists from the 13 political wards dancing in support of the Governor.
