The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched a heightened enforcement campaign targeting overloaded vehicles on major highways across the country.
Over the past several days, FRSC operatives have been deployed to key checkpoints, where they intercepted commercial vehicles found to be carrying passengers or goods beyond legally permitted limits.
The operation, according to the Corps, is part of a renewed strategy aimed at tackling one of the major causes of road crashes, overloading.
Officials say the clampdown is designed to reduce the alarming rate of fatalities and injuries linked to overloaded vehicles.
