A fire broke out on Thursday at Rogo General Hospital in Rogo Local Government Area of Kano State, affecting major sections of the facility, according to the Kano State Fire Service.
The incident was reported at about 2:36pm, prompting firefighters from Karaye and Rogo stations to respond, where they found a one-storey hospital building on fire.
Several ground-floor units were affected, including the Physiotherapy Clinic, Medical Emergency Unit office, Dental Unit, Out-Patient Department, ACC/Card room, DOT Office, and the Laboratory Office. Preliminary reports indicate the fire was caused by an electrical spark, while investigations are ongoing.
There was no immediate confirmation of any casualties or the level of damage to hospital equipment and records.
The Director of the Fire Service advised the public to observe safety precautions, especially during the harmattan season.
