In the wake of Colonel-Major Amadou Abdramane’s announcement of the removal of President Mohamed Bazoum from office and the dissolution of the country’s constitution, protesters targeted the French embassy in Niger Republic.
Supporters of the junta took to the streets of Niamey, waving Russian flags and chanting the name of Russian President Vladimir Putin, while expressing their disapproval of France’s involvement in Niger’s affairs.
In response to the escalating tension, the French government issued a warning, stating that any attack on French nationals, army personnel, diplomats, or companies would be met with immediate and severe retaliation. The French Government emphasized that such actions against France and its interests would not be tolerated.
As the situation remains tense, it is reported that around 500 to 600 French nationals are currently in Niger. Authorities are closely monitoring developments to ensure the safety of citizens and address the evolving political crisis. (CONTINUE READING HERE)
