The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is questioning Abdulfatah Ahmed, a former governor of Kwara State, for transactions totaling billions of naira that occurred while he was in office.
The former governor of Kwara was noticed on Monday morning arriving at the anti-graft agency’s Ilorin office.
It was learned that the EFCC invited him, and that he is currently responding to inquiries about the use of the funds that were under his supervision.
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq succeeded Ahmed as governor of the North Central state in May 2019.
In May 2021, he was questioned by a highly skilled team of operatives at the EFCC headquarters located in the Jabi region of Abuja, the capital city, regarding the purported embezzlement of approximately N9 billion from the Kwara State Government’s funds.
The funds were purportedly embezzled both when Ahmed was the state’s governor and as the Commissioner for Finance under the former governor Bukola Saraki’s government. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
