The immediate past chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, has paid a visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari in London, the United Kingdom.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Abdulrasheed Bawa as chairman of the anti-corruption agency in 2021. However, President Bola Tinubu dismissed him from the role on June 14, 2023.
Following his removal, Bawa was instructed to hand over leadership to the Director of Operations while an investigation into allegations of abuse of office was ongoing.
After his dismissal from office, Abdulrasheed Bawa was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on June 14, 2023 shortly after meeting with President Tinubu, following a summons for undisclosed reasons.
He was held and investigated over allegations of financial misconduct during his time as chairman of the anti-corruption agency.
