FirstBank Clarifies System migration, won’t affect banking services

FirstBank wants its customers to know there’s no need to worry—switching to a new cloud-based procurement and financial platform on Saturday, October 26, won’t mess with their banking services.

Sure, the bank mentioned earlier that the transition might cause some hiccups, but those bumps are only for vendors, not customers.

“This transition relates to the bank’s platform with suppliers only. It does not affect its banking systems, customer transactions, channels, etc.,” FirstBank said in a statement on Thursday.

What’s happening is pretty straightforward: the bank is swapping out its old I-Supplier platform—used to handle things with suppliers—for a new, cloud-based version. It’s all part of the bank’s efforts to fine-tune operations and step up the overall service experience.

The switch kicks off on Saturday, October 26, and wraps up by Sunday, November 3, 2024. Come Monday, November 4, the shiny new platform goes live, and everything will be back to business as usual.

“For now, suppliers won’t have access to the bank’s supplier platform,” the bank explained. “But no worries—it’ll be up and running again once the transition is complete.”

This reassurance from FirstBank comes at a time when some other banks in Nigeria have run into trouble during system upgrades, stirring up anxiety among customers.
