A fire outbreak sparked panic on Monday at the Alake Sports Complex in Ijeja, Abeokuta, one of the venues hosting the ongoing 2024 National Sports Festival.
The incident reportedly occurred during a routine fuel supply to the facility’s generator.
Thick smoke and flames caused alarm among athletes and spectators present at the complex.
Emergency responders arrived swiftly and were able to contain the fire before it spread further.
