Fintiri Backs N5MW Solar Project, New Faculties at ADSU

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has pledged full government backing for the creation of new Faculties of Medicine and Engineering at Adamawa State University (ADSU), Mubi.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the university’s management team to the Government House in Yola, Fintiri assured that his administration will provide the resources needed to bring the expansion to life.

The Governor also announced plans for a five-megawatt solar electricity system at ADSU, funded by the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), to tackle the university’s persistent power challenges.

He urged the institution to adopt innovative solutions to its internal problems and reaffirmed support for research, innovation, and staff welfare. He noted ongoing collaboration with development partners such as TETFund to resolve water supply issues on campus.

Vice Chancellor Professor Augustine Clement thanked Governor Fintiri for his trust and financial support. He outlined several reforms implemented to enhance learning, student development, and staff welfare, and revealed plans to introduce professional courses in Medicine and Engineering.

Despite progress, the VC highlighted key challenges including high energy costs, water scarcity, poor accommodation, inadequate firefighting equipment, and bad roads—especially within the new campus—citing a recent fire incident as a wake-up call.

Representatives from ASUU and NASU, Dr. Godwin Boniface and Mrs. Bifa respectively, commended the Governor for appointing an internal candidate as VC, calling it a step toward stable leadership and a stronger future for the university. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>>
