Alhaji Aminu Dantata, a renowned Nigerian business icon and elder statesman, was laid to rest at the Al-Baqi Cemetery in Madinah on Tuesday.
His burial followed Jana’iza (funeral) prayers held after the Maghrib prayer at the Prophet’s Mosque in the Islamic holy city.
Dantata passed away on Saturday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, at 94, with his final wish to be buried in Madinah honored.
A high-level delegation from the Federal Government of Nigeria attended the burial.
The delegation, led by the Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, departed Nigeria late Sunday and arrived in Madinah on Monday.
Other prominent members of the official delegation included: Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Hassan Abdullahi, Director of Internal Security at the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), representing the NSA.
The body of the late Alhaji Dantata arrived in Madinah on Tuesday morning, accompanied by his son, Tajudeen Dantata, and his nephew, business magnate Alhaji Aliko Dangote, along with other family members.
Several other notable figures were also present to pay their respects, including: Barau Jibrin, Deputy Senate President, Abdullahi Ganduje, immediate past Chairman of the APC, Abba Kabir Yusuf, Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Umar Namadi, Governor of Jigawa State, Muhammad Sanusi II, Emir of Kano, and Emir Aminu Ado Bayero
Officials from the Nigerian Consulate General in Jeddah, led by Ambassador Ibrahim Moddibbo, joined the delegation.
He was accompanied by Ambassador Muazzam Ibrahim Nayaya and Defence Attaché Major General Adamu Hassan, who coordinated the funeral arrangements.
Prominent Islamic clerics, including Bashir Aliyu Umar, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, and Khalifa Abdullahi Muhammad (Imam of the Dantata Mosque in Abuja), also accompanied the federal delegation. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
