A fresh sex scandal case is rocking the Ekiti State University (EKSU) as one of the female students in the department of Theatre and Media Arts accused her lecturer, Professor Adefolaju Adeseke of the same department of forceful sex.
The female student in a petition to Omolade Asake Foundation, a Non Governmental Organisation, dated Wednesday, 24th July 2024, alleged that Adeseke invited her to his office at the faculty of arts. She wrote:
“Good evening. I was given your number by someone close to me. I was sexually assaulted by a lecturer in my department. I’m a student of Theatre and Media Arts, Ekiti State University. The lecturer’s name is Professor Ade Adeseke. It all started when we went for a staff’s wedding. I and a friend of mine followed him in his car back to the school area because the wedding was at Ikere. I sat down at the front with him, and he held my hand throughout the journey.
” Two weeks after, I saw him in school and he told me to come and see him in school the following day around 6.30 pm. I went to see him around six pm.
We drove off in his car to Dave hotel. We sat down at the bar and he ordered me a bottle of Smirnoff. I was intoxicated because of what I drank because I don’t drink alcohol. After he finished his drink. We went to his car and he started kissing me.
“He tried to sleep with me but I refused and told him I hadn’t done it before. He stopped, and then he dropped me at Osekita junction. The following day, he told me to come and see him at his office at the faculty of arts.
“When I got there, he first spoke to me for a while, then he stood up and locked the door. He started kissing me and tried to take off my clothes, I told him I didn’t want to, but he didn’t listen till he eventually had sex with me. He later apologised and said he didn’t know I was telling the truth of being a virgin. He wanted to see me later that day but I made up an excuse and told him I was going somewhere.
The following day, I travelled to Ibadan, where my parents lived, so I didn’t see him throughout that month. He called me after a few weeks and told me we were dating. I travelled back to school for my exam that started on the first of July to eight.
“On the ninth of July, he called me to his office and tried to sleep with me again, but I refused, I told him I was on my period. And I told him that day that I didn’t want to have sex again. He agreed he wasn’t going to do anything until I was okay with it. The following week, Tuesday on my way, he saw me and called me. He told me to come and see him in his office. When I entered his office, he stood up and locked the door. He started kissing me and started taking my clothes off. I told him I didn’t want to but he didn’t listen, and he went ahead and slept with me. I informed my friend about everything that happened from the beginning and she was the one who messaged one of the staff in our department and explained everything to him.
“I was told you could help me with my case, and you would help me get justice. I would really appreciate it if you could help me to get justice and prevent this from happening to more people. Thank you.”
When asked why she went to his office again, she said she’s afraid of failing her exams because he is a professor and very powerful in the department. She said there’s no class he doesn’t teach. According to her, everytime she sees him now, she’s always feel repulsive and hardly concentrates on anything again. I’m fed up with life she concluded, sobbing.
