The Federal Government of Nigeria has commended the Council of Former Permanent Secretaries (CORFEPS) for its contributions toward strengthening governance and enhancing efficiency in the public sector.
According to a statement by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, gave the commendation when a delegation from CORFEPS, led by its National Chairman and former SGF, Mahmud Yayale Ahmed, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.
Imohiosen stated that Akume acknowledged advisory documents earlier submitted by the Council to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, assuring the delegation that the President, as a listening leader, would take their suggestions and recommendations into cognisance.
He added that Akume praised members of CORFEPS for their meritorious service in the Federal Civil Service and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to tap into their wealth of experience in nation-building.
The statement further quoted Yayale as reaffirming the Council’s readiness to support the Tinubu-led administration through advisory roles for effective public service delivery.
Yayale disclosed that CORFEPS had submitted three advisory documents to the President, including Strengthening the Renewed Hope Agenda (March 13, 2024), Enhancing Government Food Security Agenda (August 26, 2024), and The Deportation of Foreigners from the USA: Implications to Nigeria (December 19, 2024).
He added that the Council also forwarded an advisory document on the Tax Reform Agenda to the National Assembly for its consideration.
