Factional President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Atiku Abubakar Isah, has been granted bail in the sum of ₦5 million with one surety in like sum following his arraignment by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja.
Isah, who had been in custody since April 29, was brought before a Magistrate Court in Zone 6, Abuja, on Tuesday.
According to his counsel, human rights lawyer Marshal Abubakar of Falana & Falana Chambers, the DSS charged him with “inciting public disturbance and impersonating a public officer.”
The charges stem from allegations that he incited students to disrupt public peace and falsely presented himself as NANS President during a leadership event involving another faction of the student body.
Isah, dressed in black during the court appearance, had earlier alleged physical assault by rival NANS members purportedly backed by Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.[CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>>
