The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has appeared in court seeking a variation of his bail conditions.
Emefiele is currently facing trial on six counts related to procurement fraud amounting to N1.2 billion.
It was gathered that he appeared in court without the customary armed security personnel escorting him, making the first time he’s navigated the legal proceedings without a visible security detail.
It could be recalled that Emefiele secured his release from the Kuje Custodial Centre on December 23, 2023, approximately 34 days after being granted bail by the judge.
The hearing, presided over by Justice Hamza Muazu of the FCT High Court, is currently underway as arguments are presented regarding the requested variation of bail conditions. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
