Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to significantly expand access to sustainable electricity across unserved and underserved communities within the state.
This partnership aims to amplify ongoing initiatives designed to power homes, bolster rural economies, and support crucial public services.
Under Oyebanji’s administration, Ekiti State has already invested over N4bn in electricity infrastructure.
These efforts have reconnected more than 40 towns to the national grid, closed the metering gap by an impressive 80%, and powered key facilities with 2.6MW through an Independent Power Project.
The newly signed MOU with the REA is expected to attract private investment and propel the state closer to its ambitious goal of achieving 120MW of available power by 2030.
