EFCC nabs 21 suspected internet fráudsters in Bauchi state

Men of the Gombe zonal directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), have apprehended 21 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud in Bauchi State.

According to report, the arrest which was made on Saturday, 15th of March 2025, came, following credible intelligence on the suspects’ alleged involvement in cybercrime at Kaure New Government Reservation Area (GRA) and Awala, along Maiduguri Road in Bauchi.

During the raid, EFCC operatives recovered several items, including a BMW car, Toyota Camry cars, three PlayStation 5, 30 expensive phones, one flat-screen television, six Point of Sale (POS) machines, four iPads, and five laptops.

The anti-graft agency has however stated that the suspects would be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

This was disclosed via a statement on the agency’s X page on Monday, 17th of March 2025.

The statement reads:

“Operatives of the Gombe Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Saturday, March 15, 2025 arrested 21 suspected internet fraudsters in Bauchi, Bauchi State.

“The suspects were arrested based on credible intelligence on their alleged involvement in internet-related fraud at Kaure New Government Reservation Area, GRA, Bauchi and Awala, Maiduguri road, Bauchi state.

“Items recovered from them at the point of arrest include one BMW and Toyota Camry cars, three play station 5, 30 expensive phones, one flat screen television set, six Point of Sale, POS, machines, four ipads, and five laptops.
