The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has bagged an award for courage in justice and transparency by the Nigerian Human Rights Community.
The event at the Airport Hotel in Lagos was attended by top public servants, civil society leaders, and stakeholders in governance and justice.
Olukoyede, who was represented by the Chief of Staff to the Commission, Michael Nzekwe, on receiving the award, described the recognition for Courage in Justice and Transparency as both humbling and motivating, adding that combating graft demands unwavering resolve.
He said:
“We owe this obligation to our nation and to future generations. Fighting corruption truly requires courage and transparency.
“Corruption is a monstrous mountain, and you need courage to break it into pieces. The most difficult thing to say is NO in the face of threats and challenges.
“He that comes to equity must come with clean hands.
“This award will surely encourage us to do more.
“We need to build formidable synergy against corruption. Every little success in breaking the hard nut of corruption is significant, and if we remain consistent, we will eventually succeed in bringing down the rocky tower of graft in our land.
“The EFCC remains committed to upholding its mandate and strengthening Nigeria’s anti-corruption fight, inspired by recognitions such as this that affirm its enduring efforts.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>>
