Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, has seen to the fixing of the electricity issues in the main campus of Kings College, Lagos.
Alausa, on Thursday, 13th of February 2025 paid an unannounced visit to the school and observed the lack of electricity across the campus and many other things.
Alausa informed he has reached out to stakeholders and electricity has been restored in the school.
This was made known in a statement he shared on his X handle, on Thursday, 20th of February 2025.
The statement reads:
“On Thursday, 13th February 2025, I conducted an unannounced visit to King’s College Main Campus, Tafawa Balewa’s Square (TBS), Lagos.
“Upon inspection, aside from the unhygienic state of the school, I observed a complete lack of electricity across the campus. According to the Principal of King’s College, the school has been disconnected from its usual electricity provider, Eko Electricity Distribution Company (Eko Disco), for several months. This has resulted in the absence of electricity during school hours, with the school’s generators being used only at night, making conditions extremely difficult. No child should have to learn in such an environment.
“To address this issue, I reached out to Dr. Tunji Olowolafe, Chairman of Eko Disco to re-establish the school’s connection. Mrs. Rekhiat Momoh, CEO of Eko Disco, has confirmed that the company has begun the testing process to restore the school’s electricity supply.
“I’m pleased to announce that as of last night, Tuesday 19th February, King College’s Principal reported that light was restored to the Main campus.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
