Edo Governor Vows to Resign If Tinubu Loses 2027 Election

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has declared he will step down from office if President Bola Tinubu fails to win the 2027 presidential election, expressing unwavering confidence in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

The governor made the bold assertion while downplaying the opposition’s influence, insisting that no formidable challenger exists in Edo. According to him, the APC enjoys robust grassroots support, which he credited to what he described as the visible impact of Tinubu’s leadership.

Okpebholo also took a swipe at former governor Godwin Obaseki, questioning his political relevance and suggesting that his record in office would make it difficult for him to campaign freely in the state.

Highlighting ongoing infrastructure projects, including flyovers and major road constructions, the governor said these achievements would speak for his administration and translate into electoral gains for the APC.

Reaffirming his stance, Okpebholo stressed that his political approach is grounded in grassroots engagement rather than thuggery, adding that Edo residents would reward performance at the polls.
