Joseph Jelmang is said to have been killed in the Marish community of the Bokko local government area of Plateau State by a drunken soldier celebrating his birthday.
The event happened on April 22, according to the Bokkos Cultural Development Council (BCDC).
BCDC condemned the incident in a statement issued by Barr. Farmasum Fuddang, the group’s chairman.
It was said that while celebrating his birthday at a relaxation center, the soldier known only as Gideon opened fire at random, killing Jelmang.
The body said: “We strongly condemned the perpetrators’ desperate attempt to conceal the crime by falsely labeling the innocent passerby and residents who tried to save his life by transporting him to the hospital as militants.
“We demand the swift and decisive action of the military authorities and the Attorney General in apprehending and prosecuting the perpetrator to the fullest extent of the law.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]
