Don’t Publicize the cash gifts you want to give Mike Ejeagha to avoid putting him in D@nger – His spiritual director tells Brainjotter, others

The legendary’s singer Spiritual father, Benjamin Achi has explained why Brain jotter should not Publicly Announce the cash gifts he want to give Mike Ejeagha.

He noted the reason is to avoid putting him in Danger.

RE: GENTLEMAN MIKE EJEAGHA: GRATITUDE AND APPEAL

1. GRATITUDE:
   I was at the home of my brother, father and friend, Gentleman Mike Ejeagha, yesterday afternoon (Sunday 21st July, 2024) to spend a little time and attend to his spiritual needs as I’ve been doing for years now, in continuous fulfilment of the promise I made him some years ago and I learnt of a development that gladdened my heart.

He told me that his hitherto very quiet and relatively unknown home in one obscure corner of Abakpa Nike, Enugu has turned to a pilgrimage centre of sorts in recent days. (I could even see the evidence within the little time I spent with him. Before I could finish the prayers and administer holy communion to him, two groups were already waiting. And I heard there had been several other visits of many people earlier in the day, which included my good brother, Charles Ogbu).

Now, I was away on a one-week retreat of priests where I was cut off from phone and internet services and so had no idea what was going on. It was not until late Saturday afternoon that I learnt, through my friend, Michael Chineme Ike, of a skit made by the popular comedian, Brain Jotter, in which he had deployed one of the folklorist’s masterpieces as the background music, throwing up a challenge which millions of netizens have keyed into, making the song spread like harmattan fire on practically all the platforms on the socials.

First of, I’m indeed very happy about this development and I’m very grateful to Brain Jotter for attracting so much admiration and attention to the man I love so much. I doubt if the comedian himself had imagined the level of attention that short skit of his ended up getting. That’s the magic of Ejeagha’s pieces.

Ejeagha’s songs have done a lot in the life of many people. Life- changing stories and testimonies abound. I’m sure many people don’t know this.

I express gratitude too to all those who have either joined that challenge or made posts, saying some nice words about Gentleman. Like I said, I’m really overjoyed at the attention he is getting while he still breaths.

In one of his very popular songs (and one of my favourites too) he made a request: “Jaa m mma ná ndụ” (appreciate me while I’m still alive). This is exactly what I see happening at the moment and it is the reason for which I’ve been dedicated to him as his spiritual director for years now. If I really love him, I needed to show it while he still lived.

Gentleman turned 94 last April 4th. So this is happening at the twilight of his life but it’s still good enough. After all, as he would sing in one of his timeless masterpieces, “Ụwa mgbede kà mmá” (later life fortunes are the sweetest).

2. AN APPEAL:
   Those that have been following me on this space for some years now know how unapologetically passionate I’m about anything concerning Mike Ejeagha. He is like a father to me (even as he calls me his personal father). And it is on the strength of this that I make the following appeals:

a. ABOUT INTERACTIONS:
Eventhough God blessed him with good health, Mike Ejeagha is old and his strength is failing. He is NO LONGER PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY DISPOSED FOR INTERVIEWS so please to go stressing him, requesting for that. In this age of social media with lots of people trying to chase clout or grow their platforms, I know there would be lots of opportunistic moves especially in the light of the recent developments but please, spare the old man the stress. I beg in the name of God.

b. ABOUT CASH/OTHER GIFTS:
While I thank Brain Jotter for the pledge he has made which I believe he would still redeem, I’m appealing to all those who would wish to send cash or other gifts in appreciation of this musical icon, NOT TO PUBLICLY ANNOUNCE such gifts. This may put the life of the old man and his family at risk of the bad elements in our society. The days are ev!l. (I already saw so many posts online, with some fake video clips, claiming that the pledge made by Brain Jotter has been redeemed. Well, as I pen down these lines, that has NOT happened. At least, not just yet).

Many other people have been sending him gifts in the past and we’ve tried to keep it as quiet as possible. Anyone that knows Gentleman Mike Ejeagha himself would know he is a very quiet and simple man and doesn’t like showmanship. While we appreciate the disposition of many to show him appreciation for the so much value he added to our society through his music, we appeal that you keep it cool please, so that you don’t end up causing trouble for him and his household.
