President Donald Trump has commuted the sentence of Larry Hoover, the former Chicago gang leader who was serving a life term at a federal supermax prison in Colorado.
The decision, first reported by NOTUS and later confirmed by a White House official on condition of anonymity, has not yet been officially announced.
Hoover, originally sentenced for a 1973 murder and later convicted in 1998 for running a criminal enterprise, has long claimed to have renounced his gang ties.
His family has consistently asserted that he is no longer affiliated with the Gangster Disciples.
